There’s something so special about capturing people in the places they live and love. As an Asheville-based and NYC based photographer, I’ve had the joy of documenting families in their most natural environments—coffee brewing, sunlight streaming through windows, and the quiet anticipation of life’s biggest transitions. That is what an in-home maternity session is all about.

Recently, I had the absolute honor of photographing my friends Lily and Matt in their SC home as they prepare to welcome their first baby (it’s a boy!). We spent the morning exactly how I believe lifestyle photos should feel: slow, meaningful, and full of heart.

There was no pressure, no shot list. Just connection and trust.

We sipped warm coffee and wandered through their cozy home, pausing to admire the baby’s nursery—a sweet, light-filled space already brimming with love and gentle intention. I noticed the way they smiled at each other, how their hands naturally rested on her growing belly, and how the quiet light seemed to follow them from room to room.

Being invited into someone’s home to capture such an intimate season is never something I take for granted. And though I typically work with families around Asheville or NYC, it was such a treat to shoot this in-home session in Spartanburg for people I know and adore.

What made this morning even more fulfilling was the trust Lily gave me. There were no expectations—just freedom to see and create through my lens, to document the honest beauty of their morning together. These are the kinds of lifestyle photos I live for. The kind where storytelling takes the lead and artistry has room to breathe.
