Mountaintop Elopement in Asheville NC

When I became a photographer back in 2017 (when this really turned into a business) days like this were exactly what I imagined as my “dream day.” I was drawn to couples whose reason for getting married was simple: to get married. Not to perform, not to impress, not to go into debt for a single day..but to step into their covenant of marriage. This Mountaintop Elopement in Asheville NC held every piece of that vision.

And then, of course, there’s the magic of Asheville woven into it all. They got ready at home, together, alongside two of their closest friends. They laced up their well-loved Blundstones (with a story of their own), and we hiked out to exchange vows as the sun dipped below the mountains.

One of the best locations to elope in Asheville, NC

Black Balsam Knob, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway near Asheville, is one of the most remarkable places to get married. It’s also one of my personal favorites in Western North Carolina, a place I love hiking and camping. The trail is short but rugged, and it opens up to some of the most expansive, unobstructed views in the region. Standing on that mountaintop feels like freedom

After hiking back down, we ended the evening with a camp-style dinner at the truck, eating by the glow of headlamps and taking in the last of the night air. Honestly, 10/10 recommend.

If you’re dreaming of documentary-style wedding photography in Asheville, or planning your own mountaintop elopement, I’d love to hear from you. Reach out, and let’s start dreaming something up together 🤍
