If you’re on the lookout for the perfect spot for your engagement photos, let me tell you about Shelby and Ryan’s amazinggg Roan Mountain engagement session! We ventured out in late May, just before the rhododendron bloom, and the setting was absolutely magical.

Roan Mountain, right on the NC/TN line, is a dream location, especially for you early birds or night owls who love a colorful sunrise or sunset. This session was filled with beautiful light that made everything feel aglow! The sweeping views and the serene atmosphere really set the scene for iconic mountaintop engagement photos.

What’s great about a roan mountain engagement session is the variety along this one short trail. From pine-filled forests to wide-open balds, there’s no shortage of gorgeous spots. Plus, the cooler mountain air is a refreshing reprieve from the summer sun!

If you’re considering a roan mountain engagement session, I’d highly recommend planning it around sunrise or sunset. The light is just perfect, and you’ll have the mountain almost entirely to yourselves. Shelby and Ryan’s photos turned out beautifully, and I can’t wait to shoot more sessions up there!
