Spontaneous Courthouse Elopement in Asheville NC

THE NIGHT BEFORE. The night before their spontaneous courthouse elopement in Asheville NC, Abbie and Walter hired me to document their whirlwind nuptials. Walter had flown in from London just the afternoon prior, making this time together extra special. We met up at the courthouse in the early morning light for their ceremony and I had the pleasure of acting as one of their witnesses – a job I always love!

For a Buncombe County courthouse elopement, the earlier, the better! You’d be surprised how many couples choose to wed in this non-traditional manner, and since this location only does ceremonies on Fridays from 8:30-2:30, it can get busy in the late morning/early afternoon.

We were the first to arrive and it really felt like they had the whole place to themselves!
