A wedding day is a celebration of love, commitment, and the beginning of a beautiful journey for two souls. On August 12th I had the opportunity to document this picturesque European inspired wedding at Hotel Domestique in upstate South Carolina. Despite a brief rain delay before the ceremony, the day unfolded into a breathtaking display of emotion, elegance, and natural beauty, culminating in a reception graced by a stunning sunset.

Nestled just outside of Greenville, SC, Hotel Domestique provided an enchanting backdrop for this wedding. The elegant architecture of the venue, combined with its breathtaking mountainous views, created a sense of grandeur and intimacy simultaneously. The atmosphere was filled with an air of excitement as guests eagerly anticipated the union of Rachel and Jacob.

From the bride: “We are really trying to go for a romantic and whimsical European countryside vibe. Our color scheme is mostly white and blush. I’m excited for our mirror seating chart and our cake meadow!”

As the day proceeded, the weather had other plans in mind. Dark clouds gathered in the sky, and a gentle drizzle turned into a steady rain, causing a 30-minute delay for the ceremony. While such unexpected twists might have unnerved some, the couple’s unwavering love and the supportive spirit of their guests turned the delay into an opportunity to strengthen the anticipation. The rain soon subsided and the sky cleared after we used the extra time for some moody indoor portraits.

The bride, adorned in a breathtaking custom Alexandra Grecco gown from Lovely Bride in Houston, walked down the beautiful flower flanked aisle with her dad , emanating sheer elegance and grace. The dress complemented her natural beauty, with its delicate detailing and timeless silhouette. Despite the earlier weather hiccup, the radiant smile on the couple’s faces reflected their joy and excitement as they exchanged vows.

The ceremony’s delay seemed almost serendipitous

…and as the sun began to set, it painted the sky with a mesmerizing palette of warm hues, transforming the reception into an ethereal wonderland. The glimmering lights strung across the reception area paired with colorful floral centerpieces by Sweet June Floral Co created an ambiance that was nothing short of magical.

Guests laughed, danced to GVL DJs, and raised toasts as they celebrated the couple. The reception was a perfect blend of love, joy, and celebration, with heartfelt speeches from longtime friends and spirited dance moves 😜 The combination of the elegant venue, the bride’s stunning dress, and the vibrant sunset created a visual feast that I was privileged to document.

As a wedding photographer (let’s chat!), I am entrusted with the responsibility of encapsulating some of the most cherished moments in a couple’s life. This wedding at Hotel Domestique was a testament to the resilience of love, the beauty of nature, and the power of capturing fleeting moments. Despite rain causing a brief delay, the day unfolded into a breathtaking celebration marked by a stunning sunset. The elegance of their design choices, the charm of the venues setting, and the couple’s profound love all came together to create a story worth sharing.
