Springtime in Asheville brings a sense of renewal and beauty, making it the perfect backdrop for weddings. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing David and Rachel’s garden party wedding at the NC Arboretum, a venue that truly encapsulates the simplicity and beauty of nature.
“Garden party” weddings are making a huge splash in the wedding scene, and it’s easy to see why! These weddings blend the natural beauty of the outdoors with the sophistication of a formal event. The trend is all about creating a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere, with lush greenery, vibrant flowers, and open skies as the perfect backdrop for vows and celebrations. Guests can enjoy the fresh air, and the scenery provides stunning photo opportunities that need little to no additional decoration.
The NC Arboretum, nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, offers an idyllic setting for any wedding, but it truly shines for a garden party wedding. With its meticulously curated gardens, scenic walking trails, and beautiful water features, it’s a dream venue for couples looking to embrace the natural beauty of Asheville. The Arboretum’s diverse landscapes provide a variety of settings, from intimate garden nooks to expansive lawns, making it a versatile choice for ceremonies and receptions of all sizes.
Choosing how to dress for a wedding can either be the most fun aspect of attending OR the most frustrating! Dressing for a wedding at the NC Arboretum gives you the chance to dress in a way that complements the beautiful surroundings. For guests, think light, airy fabrics and floral prints that mirror the natural setting. Ladies might opt for flowy dresses in pastel hues (I’m a Nuuly girl through and through), while gentlemen could go for smart-casual attire with lightweight suits or dress shirts and chinos. Comfort is key, so choose shoes that are suitable for walking on grass and gravel paths. Don’t forget a stylish hat or sunglasses to shield yourself from that springtime sun!
David and Rachel’s wedding was a perfect example of how magical a garden party wedding in Asheville can be. They exchanged vows under strands of flowers that Rachel made herself, with the blooming gardens around them. Guests mingled and enjoyed every intentional detail crafted by this couple from the flowers, to the teacup candles. The reception featured stunning tablescapes adorned with vibrant flowers, candles, and of course a few disposable cameras here and there!
If you’re considering a wedding that’s both sophisticated and steeped in nature, a garden party wedding at the NC Arboretum is a fantastic choice. I’m a firm believer that just because a style is trending does NOT mean that it’s overrated and this wedding absolutely proves that!
